At least once a week I have a dream about my Mom. The other night I had a dream that my Mom came back to life. It was so real, she was talking to me and smiling just like I remember her. I woke up confused and started to have a panic attack realizing that it was just a dream. I quietly prayed and calmly talked myself out of the fear. Since she died, I have been bitter, angry, and so sad. Things that normally wouldn’t bother me, Iv’e allowed to dig inside of me and cause stress, anger, loss of faith & loss of hope. All the tragedy I see in the world has been very discouraging. I feel like every where I go I see someone who is suffering physical, emotionally, or financially.
I will love my Mom forever and ever and ever, but I need to move on.
As I read this BLOG and this BLOG. I was reminded of faith and hope. These individuals are amazing! Iv’e never even met either of them, but they are such great examples to me.
Last night as I was watching Hope for Haiti, Halleluja came on. That is one of my favorite songs ever and it hit me to the core. My trials are miniscule compared to the tragedies and losses other people are suffering.
I was inspired by my friend Kara Layne and this BOOK to start finding joy and happiness in simple things. Last weeks challenge was to simplify my home by tossing out junk! I got rid of 8 trash bags and about 6 boxes from the kitchen and family room alone! It is amazing how much happier you are when your house is organized and clean. I would say week one was a pretty good success:)
While trying to find happiness in simply things I looked out the window the morning after the storm and watched these two birds.(I love twiggy trees:) The bird standing on the hire branch was definitely protecting the bird on the lower. I was thinking how they must have protected each other during the storm and how blessed they are to have one another.
I also watched this video over and over this week. Trying to remind myself that there is hope for all the people who are suffering in the world.

Kerri McConnell: Even though our situations are different, we've both suffered pain etc. I'm so glad you are beginning to move past this. I've just started myself to move forward. saundra: Oh Angie....I dreamed of my Dad last night too. It's not something that often happens so I relish when it does. He was happy, healthy and acted as though nothing was wrong. When I woke up I had to shake myself to determine whether he really had passed or not, I couldn't discern dream from reality. I too have had a hard time and feel sometimes I have pushed it deep down. So many people rely upon me to be strong and move forward. But it surfaces inside with physical feelings of fatigue, heart racing and panic. I've realized I have to let myself have bad days once in awhile (yesterday was one of those days). But I also try to take the time to relish happy moments or unexplained things that make us smile. Please know you are not alone. We are certainly blessed, as there is someone that is suffering more than us. And it will take time to feel better and may be a continuing process. Kara Layne: Angie, I cannot tell you how much you have been in my thoughts these past few weeks. Although our experiences with death are completely different, I understand the anger and the bitterness. Remember that those who have left before are us are watching us finish the race ourselves. Lean on Matt, lean on your children and look in their eyes to find your happiness. It's there. And remember to talk about your mother to your kids. Allow her legacy to live on through you. You are a beautiful person, Angie...one of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure of knowing. My prayers and thoughts are always with you. And shoot...we need a girls night. Jenna: Sister I'm with you all the way. We will never forget Mom and all our memories of her. But she's happy and she's watching us, and you know she's sad when we are unhappy. We must move on with happiness, but we will always miss her terribly. But that doesn't mean we can't move forward with a new faith and a new hope for the new things to come in life. Bambi: My dear sweet Ange, My heart aches for you and your siblings. You will never forget your "Mom"! As you know it has been 29 years since my precious "Mother, Nanny" left us to go to the other side. Never a day goes by that I don't think of her & miss her sooo much. Just think your mom & nanny are together, of course Beckham & "Papa". They are so happy and pain free. They hurt,I am sure when we are unhappy. We have to think positive and move on. Serve others! Sarah Rhoads: Oh Angie, I feel for you in ways I cannot begin to describe through a simple comment on your blog but know that you are not alone and that it is okay to feel sad, frustrated and even angry. I remember having a very similar dream about my dad when I was 16, I dreamt of him walking in the house and saying that he hadn't passed away my sister and I were overjoyed... I woke up running downstairs thinking it was real only to find myself in a puddle on the floor. So I can relate and I feel for you Angie. What is interesting is I now only pray that I can have dreams of my dad.... they are rare blessings that make me feel closer to so many parts of him I fear I have forgotten. Cathie B.: Angie I found your blog and had to read... I am so glad I did. Boy can I relate to you and what you are going through right now. I never thought I would come out of the fog, and now ten years later here I am, still standing. I remember only briefly thinking that I would never ever be able to function normally again. No joy, no happiness, no nothing. Just waiting until I can see Brett again. I too dreamed about Brett, all the time. Not just weird silly dreams, but real "I was with Brett last night" dreams. I came to understand that those dreams are real, and that they have great meaning. We have to be open to them, and our loved ones can communicate what they need to say to us through those dreams. Sometimes it's just them trying to comfort us, to tell us something specifically. I am so grateful for them because they got me through those first few years. They don't come as often now, but when they do, they are purposeful. I learned that losing someone you love is like living with a gigantic hole in the middle of your living room floor. At first, that hole is so big you are constantly falling into it. You sink into despair and cry the days away.. then you climb out and function. Days go by, weeks go by and you realize you aren't in the hole as much even though it's still there. Then years go by and sometimes you just have to go into it. But you can come back out and you're okay for awhile. But the hole is always there... you just figure out how to live with it. I hope you find the peace on this path you are now on, and that you will always find your sweet Mom there walking beside you. That little bird up there? She's watching over you... (24/01/10, 09:36)

Brielle: The first time I went to Disneyland my mother had pulled my brother and I out of school for a dentist's appointment. After an hour on the freeway, I knew we were going further than Sherman Oaks. When we arrived at the Disneyland parking lot, I immediately knew where we were and peed my pants. Jenna: My favorite ride at Disneyland is the Haunted House. I was probably 12 the first time I went there. The last time I went there, though, and the reason the Haunted House is my favorite, is that my fiance Bryan and I took his five-year-old daughter there for her first time and all three of us went on the Haunted House ride, with Hayley in between the two of us. She was scared, but also very brave. The best part--whenever she told anyone about the ride, she called it the "ghosteses" ride. Adorable! (12/01/10, 03:14)
mindy: I've sadly never been to Disneyland! :( My main goal for 2010 is to make sure I'm capturing my OWN family and documenting our life with my camera the same way I'm doing for my clients. I got way too busy in 2009 and my own family photos suffered because of it. I want to stop leaving all my personal family pictures sitting in the computer untouched and unprinted! I've got to schedule in some time to document our life. Our 3 babies won't be babies forever and I want to make sure I capture them in each stage of life...afterall, they are my inspiration for this love of photography in my heart! Matterhorn sharing a car with my daughter, my son and husband behind me - so I can hear my husband laugh the whole way. Peter Pan...1st thing on Magic Mornings...because it's just so magical. And Indiana Jones...because it's so campy in wonderful...But the best ride in the whole park will always be the Tea Cups....always. Their gift to us grandchildren was taking us to Disneyland. I remember LOVING Peter Pan, specifically the part where you fly over London and all the little lights in the houses and "Big Ben" make it look so amazing. Kelsey Rosser: The first time I went to Disneyland I was 2 or 3 years old. My favorite ride ended up being "It's a Small World" I know this fun little fact only because I rode the ride, so many times (my mother swears it was 30) the ride operator finally said stay on the ride until your daughter is finished. Every single time I would ride the ride, I would cry and ball my face out all the way through the line until I hopped back on again...thankfully (for my mother's sake) we only rode another 25 or so times...till I saw TIGGER!!! Thank God for Tigger otherwise I would have stayed on the ride until the park closed LOL 16 years later I went to Florida at Disneyworld rode it once, and still brought back all the memories from the first time I rode it.. So, when my little sister was born, my Grandparents felt that I needed something special, that only a big sister could do. So, they drove me all over the western United States. My Mom and I went on the ride and she had no idea that the wheel in the middle of the cup actually worked to allow you to spin as fast as you wanted. When we got off the ride Mom looked a little green. She wasn't too happy when I told her I could have slowed down the spinning if I'd known! I LOVE Lisa's designs and that necklace is my favorite. I used to have pet birds who were allowed to play outside of their cages, so it is especially meaningful to me. I was just diagnosed this past week with a brain tumor. It is a rare, non-cancerous tumor on my pituitary gland and can be treated. I was 37 when I went to Disneyland for the first time. I was on a business trip and my boss surprised me with a day off and tickets to the park (total dream come true for this Disney Fanatic!). My favorite ride would have to be Priates of the Caribbean. It is a personal favorite of mine from Disney World, but at Disneyland I loved how the riders get to go around and look out at the lake (and see all the people in line). In my excitement to get on the ride, i pooped. right there, on his head. I think i had recently graduated to "big girl panties" (big mistake) my mom had to run to the gift shop to buy my brother a new (pluto) shirt and some $45 pajamas for me (the cheapest thing she could find- i was young but i vividly remember her telling me how expensive they were in the bathroom while she changed my clothes) oh the joys! ps- not to try to sway you in the least- but your engagement shoot with the record player and the butterflies is my favorite shoot ever. amazing! ohana photographers - kimi: love autopia - yes i know people think it's boring, but i always try to ram the cars ahead or tell the kids to slow down so i can bump em, i feel like i'm breaking the law. whoo hoo it's exciting! love haunted mansion and really love it during christmas especially when it breaks down, don't ask me why, but i always wish for it to break down :) i really like the jungle cruise too, it's like a crap shoot to see if we get a funny guide. i think our all time favorite was this girl that talked like mr. t the whole time and had incredibly funny jokes, (not the "they all have their trunks on") ones. some of them are really innovative. like this one girl, when the natives came out, instead of making spear noises she made laser noises that went on a while and i couldn't stop laughing. she was awesome. my all time fav ride used to be mr. toads wild ride until they put in INDIANA JONES!!! oh how i love that ride! like david we were pretty poor too, i vaguely remember when i went as a kid maybe 10 or so when my relatives would visit from utah. i remember going on haunted mansion with my favorite uncle buster and being REALLY scared especially when the ghosts sat on our laps, i think i had my eyes closed the whole ride until that point he told me to look and i never wanted to go on it again. then he took me on the rockets when they were higher and in a different place than they are now. i was again scared out of my mind and never wanted to go back. man, i'm a wimp. thinking of it now, i think he may have just been taking me on rides that made me wee my pants :/ with all that i still fell in love with disneyland. when you're poor disneyland is truly like heaven. when i was old enough and had a job i went as much as i could. i remember once when i was in high school i ditched school with a friend and our boyfriend's. half way through the day my friend said she needed to get something from the car. we didn't see her again until the end of the night. i asked her where she was and she said, in the disneyland holding tank for having an open container ha ha disneyland has a jail!!! security drove by and saw our bottle of lancers in the front seat and they rolled her and her boyfriend. she said there were 3 twin girls in there for stealing the exact same donald duck stuffed animal. favorite part of disneyland - christmas time. thing i dislike the most - before the fireworks the announcement of these are sponsored by honda. grr... ok like david i go on about disneyland. even though i've been to disneyworld, i'd love to go with david and rain :) (14/01/10, 04:42)

Carri: I grew up far away from California in Oklahoma. My family came out to visit my mom's sister when I was ten. They took us to Disneyland that year. My aunt and cousin took us on the ride Space Mountain. It was fast, loud, simply awesome! I was so amazed at the ride, but was even more amazed that my aunt got on with us. Now that I am a high school teacher, I have had the opportunity many times to attend the grad night event, and all the times I went the ride was closed for renovation. But, we arrived wearing shorts and tshirts, and it was the coldest day of the year and flurries abounded. Pretty cool, eh? Melissa: I was so young I really don't remember my first trip to Disney (world).....I've heard the stories though...I was spewing out both ends on the entire flight there..I think I was about 3 years old. I DO remember the tickets...We had to have tickets for the rides! There were A rides, B rides, etc. I live near Disneyland now and my favorite ride is still Space Mountain! we shot tons of couples this year. it’s my favorite thing to shoot. we had a blast with all the couples that we shot. some of these aren’t engagement sessions, as some are married, but nonetheless, we included them in this post :)
